Mikael Carlson

Visit the website of Mikael Carlson to read the remarkable story of the historic aircraft pictured above.

It is an original 1914 Thulen (AB Enoch Thulin Aeroplanfabrik (AETA) version of the Bleriot XI, built under license from Louis Bleriot and powered by a 50 HP Gnome rotary engine.

Mikael Carlson discovered this aeroplane in 1986, spent five years carefully restoring it and flew it for the first time in 1991.  On July 25, 1999 Mikael Carlson duplicated Louis Bleriot's famous voyage across the English Channel in this plane, commemorating that historic first flight exactly ninety years later.

We are greatly indebted to Mr. Carlson for sharing his important historic aviation preservation efforts with us and for allowing us to display the above copyrighted image on this website.
